Fundamentals of Investment

Purpose

This course introduces learners tothe basics of investment, investment markets, strategies and products andprovides a basis for them to evaluate investment options on behalf ofinvestors.

This is a stand alone course that is part of the nationally recognised New Zealand qualification of the Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice).

Who should attend this course?

  • Have you started or are considering becoming an investment adviser or providing investment advice to clients
  • Would you like instruction in the basic concepts of investment planning as practiced throughout the industry
  • Do you need an understanding of the different investment products and providers available in New Zealand

After completing this course youwill be able to:

  • Determine a client’s risk profile and explain the concept of risk and return
  • Assess, measure and analyse financial risk
  • Conduct a client needs analysis
  • Assess and analyse investment portfolios and investment trends and performance
  • Develop appropriate solutions to meet the client’s needs
  • Develop an investment plan or portfolio with full substantiated recommendations
  • Implement, monitor and review a client’s portfolio and make necessary recommendations
  • Provide advice in derivatives and securities
  • Explain the features and benefits of the various investment products

Qualification

Upon successful completion of theprogram, you will be qualified to provide personal advice in relation toregulated managed investment, securities and derivatives products.

You will also receive a Certificateof Competence signifying partial completion of the following NZQA accredited NewZealand qualification, the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5).

This course is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority(NZQA) under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and adviserlink is aregistered private training enterprise accredited to teach it.
