Estate Planning
Purpose
This course aims to provide learners with the technical skills and knowledge to provide financial advice in estate and asset planning. It incorporates the six-step financial advice process.
This is a stand alone course that is part of the nationally recognised New Zealand qualification of the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5).
Who should attend this course?
- Are you a financial adviser who wants to provide a full range of financial advice to your clients
- Do you currently, or intend to, work in the trustee industry
- Do you wish to attain recognition in the area of personal trustee administration
- Are you interested in the field of asset and estate planning
- Do you ant to gain a better understanding of asset and estate planning products and strategies
Learning objectives
After completing this course you will be able to:
- Determine client’s estate planning needs
- Establish and maintain communication with clients
- Develop strategies based on client requirements
- Prepare and document effective estate plans to meet client needs
- Prepare and provide ongoing service
Content
- The client relationship
- Use of a will in an estate plan
- Use of a trust in an estate plan
- Advantages and disadvantages of a corporate trustee and a personal trustee
- Roles and responsibilities of a trustee
- The considerations of a trustee of a discretionary trust when distributing income or capital
- How the assets of a business structure are dealt with under a will
- How insurance may be used in an estate plan
- Taxation considerations of an Estate Plan
- The key factors in developing and implementing a co-ordinated estate plan
Qualification
Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a Certificate of Competence signifying partial completion of the following NZQA accredited New Zealand qualification, the National Certificate in Financial Services (Financial Advice) (Level 5).
This course is approved by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) under the provisions of the Education Act 1989, and Adviserlink is a registered private training enterprise accredited to teach it.
